At first attempt it looked like there was no way it was designed to work with my setup. It seemed to hang far too low. Upon further review I could see that the intended install was to have quite a bit of space between this skid plate and the factory LR3 tank plate.
The plate is made well and is very solid. I assume that the space in between the two skid plates (factory and HCOR) is to absorb flex when the weight of the vehicle is on the plate. I have a huge concern with my new dramatically lower break-over angle. There is one bit of steel welded on that looks to be for mating with the High Country center diff mount that I don’t own.
After I determine for sure that this adds no strength to my configuration, I’ll grind that bit off. that will give me an extra inch of clearance and get my break-over angle back to very close to the factory spec. Pictures below.
Sean, do you have the contact info for High Country? Seem to have lost touch with them!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and great blog.
